On the date 18th January of 2018, in Vung Tau City, Solar Turbine Company held a seminar to summarize 3 years of implementing the joint agreement on maintenance and repair of gas turbine engine and equipment (MMSA) for oil & gas projects in Vietnam.
Attending the seminar, on behalf of Solar Turbine Company, there was Mr. Richard Mundy – Managing Director of Asia-Pacific. On behalf of PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), there were Dr. Ngo Huu Hai – General Director and leaders from PVEP’s specialized departments. The seminar also has attendance from the leaders representing for the 6 operators including KNOC, Bien Dong POC, Rosneft, PTSC PPS, Cuu Long JOC, and JVPC.
On behalf of Solar Turbine Company, Mr. Richard Mundy expressed his gratitude to all leaders, PVEP’s experts, the operators and highly appreciate the technical value and economical effectiveness of the MMSA cooperation model.
In addition to the practical benefits for the operators about improving quality of maintenance and repair services, the MMSA agreement also provides genuine spare parts, regularly supervising technical maintenance service, overhaul exchange engine, sharing experiences and training human resources. On the August 6th of 2014, the agreement was signed with the participation of 4 operators and up to now there are 6 participating operators, which confirms the superiority and continuous development of MMSA. Mr. Richard Mundy asserted that over the years, this model has brought positive effect, ensuring better technical and economic performance than the individual agreements between Solar and the operators in the past.
The MMSA agreement has created a value added of $ 4.96 million for the operators. In addition, the reduction of downtime and production interruption has saved for PVEP and the operators more than $ 30 million.
According to Mr. Richard Mundy, many countries in the world such as Britain, France, USA, Russia, China, Japan… have used Solar gas turbines. It is from the success of the MMSA agreement in Vietnam with the guarantee for 98-100% working time, Solar has developed and expanded similar agreements to other Asian markets, and have been achieved positive results for the participants in the past few years.
The seminar also received many comments from the representatives of the 6 operators including Cuu Long JOC, KNOC, Bien Dong POC, Rosneft, JVPC and PTSC PPS. All the operators have thanked to the initiatives of PVEP and Solar has successfully organized and implemented the MMSA agreement, highly appreciated for the practical results for the operators for not only optimizing in cost but also for supporting in technical. The leaders of the operators are expecting that in the coming time, other companies will be admitted to the agreement, increase the number of gas turbines involved, thus contributing to cost optimization.
Speaking at the seminar, the General Director of PVEP – Dr. Ngo Huu Hai, would like to thank the guidance from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), the cooperation from Solar, and the operators that have effectively implemented the MMSA agreement between Solar and the operators with PVEP for more than 3 years. The results are evidenced by the impressive data presented by Solar and the 6 operators at the seminar.
Currently, Vietnam market has 72 gas turbines operating in the projects for 6 operators. The General Director of PVEP – Dr. Ngo Huu Hai emphasized that in the coming time, the parties should continue to expand the participation to the other operators, enhance cooperation to optimize cost, and recommend SOLAR to apply 4.0 supporting technology to enhance the management, forecasting maintenance plan in detail, overhaul the gas turbine engine, and preventing breakdown equipment abnormally that affect production.
Mr. Richard Mundy would like to thank PVN, PVEP, the operators, PVEP’s experts, and experts from the operators have had many technical solutions to support the company for over three years. Solar commits to fully implement the comments from the leaders of PVEP and the operators at the seminar, desiring to continue to receive support and guidance from the parties so that the agreement is increasingly successful for all participants.
